Latest News About 6 Foreigners from India Stranded in Rote, NTT

jpnn.com, KUPANG - Head of the Immigration Information and Communication Technology Section of the Kupang Immigration Office Fitra Izharry delivered the latest news regarding the handling of six foreign nationals (WNA) from India who were stranded in Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT).

According to Fitra, the six foreigners from India were kept at the Kupang Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) awaiting a decision whether to be deported or to undergo trial. "Currently they are still being kept at the Detention Center after being picked up at Rote Ndao Regency," said Fitra Izharry in Kupang, Monday (30/1).

This was conveyed in relation to the stranded case of six foreigners from India in early January, when they were trying to cross to Australia using a wooden boat. The six foreigners from India included Gurjot Singh, Satnam Singh, Karamjit Singh, Aman Singh, Satinder Pal Singh and Harshadkumar Natvarlal. The six foreigners from India are adults and all are male.

Fitra said the six Indian foreigners had been examined by the intelligence and intelligence section and a case had been held. "Until today we are still waiting for the leadership's decision whether the six Indian citizens will be deported or through legal channels," he added.
According to Fitra, a number of foreigners from India were temporarily charged under the Immigration Law and subject to Article 75 (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011. Based on the confessions of a number of Indian foreigners, they boarded a ship from Sulawesi and were suspected of being involved in people smuggling along with four crew members (ABK) from Sulawesi. They departed from Sulawesi and arrived at Pasir Island, whereupon they were arrested by Australian water security officers. They were detained for four days by local security officers. After four days, the six foreigners were then sent back to Indonesian territory and finally stranded in Rote Ndao. (antara/jpnn)
